The core of Judaism is the Torah, and the core of the Torah is the Decalogue or “Ten Commandments.” In this course, we explore the multiple ways in which these ten laws or statements have been understood through the centuries: as a religious belief system, as a legal system and social contract, and as a spiritual vision of reality.
